Bringing the Gospel to the Pacific Northwest since 1838

The Proto-Cathedral of St. James the Greater is a Catholic church within the Archdiocese of Seattle.

Founded in 1838 by Quebecois missionaries, our purpose remains the same today as when they arrived to the Northwest frontier: to share the good news of the Gospel and the Catholic faith as instituted by our Lord, Jesus Christ.

We are dedicated to caring for the spiritual well-being of our parishioners through the Sacraments, religious education and opportunities of service for Christ, the Church Universal and our local community here in Vancouver, Washington!

We strive to be better stewards of the world we live in and bring all to the saving grace of God.
