Altar Servers assist the priest during liturgical celebrations. Boys in grade six through young adults are eligible to serve.
Acolytes directly assist the priest during Mass by preparing the altar and performing other duties. The Acolyte position is open to young men who have been confirmed.
A reader is a lay person entrusted with proclaiming Scripture during Mass. It is expected that they will spend time in preparation through prayer and reading the Scriptures. This ministry is open to active, Confirmed parishioners who are in good standing with the Church and, if married, married in the Church.
Sacristans are those who appreciate working near the Blessed Sacrament and assisting during Sunday and weekday Masses. Duties include setting up for Masses, cleaning sacred vessels, polishing candlesticks and followers, and occasionally assisting with funerals or weddings.
Ushers greet people warmly as they arrive for Mass, invite people to bring up the offertory gifts, assist with seating, take up the collection, distribute the bulletins and tidy up after Mass. Greeters assist the ushers in welcoming people to the church before Mass and passing out worship aids. They assist visitors with any questions about the church and pass out the bulletins after Mass.
Volunteers clean, repair and prepare the linens for the multiple altars in the sanctuary.
Volunteers work with the Cemetery Sexton in maintaining our parish cemetery grounds and aiding in special projects requiring extra help.
This valuable ministry is open to all who would like to be “God’s Housekeeper”, preparing the church for weekend Masses. Volunteers dust, sweep, and vacuum the interior of the church on Saturday mornings after the 9:00 am Mass.
Volunteers work with the Parish Custodian to maintain the buildings and grounds of The Proto-Cathedral. Those with expertise in different trades are always needed, as well as those who would like to help with general maintenance.
Catechists, Assistant Catechists, and Substitute Catechists work in our Sunday morning Children’s Faith Formation Program teaching in grades K-5, including First Holy Communion/First Penance classes. Volunteers help with annual events, Ignite Your Torch chaperones and assistance as needed.
Volunteers are needed to help beautify the church with floral arrangements for weekend Masses and Liturgical celebrations. This involves arranging the flowers one or two weekends every other month and on major feasts and holidays. Training will be provided.
The purpose of the Historical Society is to educate parishioners and the community at large about the history of the Proto-Cathedral. It’s intent is to enrich the faith of worshippers by connecting them with the faith communities that preceded them. The main focus is providing tours of the church, explaining the sacred art and artifacts of our parish's rich history. These free tours are between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. the last Saturday of the month. Other activities include a Christmas season tour and a St. John the Baptist festival in late June.
Founded in 1882 by Fr. McGivney as a Catholic fraternal benefit society, today the Knights are over 1.8 million men strong worldwide. The Knights are dedicated to the principals of charity, unity and fraternity and were originally founded to render financial aid to members and their families. Today, the Knights are dedicated to serve the Priests and parishes with other efforts benefitting the community and the Culture of Life. The Fourth Degree is the patriotic degree and serves at many highly visible and special occasions supporting our pastor and bishops. Membership in the Knights is open to any Catholic man, 18 years or older.

The purpose of this group is to grow Stewardship at the parish, helping parishioners see Stewardship as synonymous with discipleship, and when Stewardship is practiced as Jesus taught, it will change our lives. The primary focus is to inspire parishioners to offer their Time, Talent, and Treasure to foster a vibrant parish as we grow in our faith and in our relationship with Jesus Christ.
The Saint Martha’s Apostolate strives to promote an atmosphere of hospitality within our parish community so that all who visit or join our parish feel their presence is important and wanted. Contacts and welcomes new parishioners during our Sunday Coffee Hour.
Monthly Eucharistic Adoration devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus & to the Immaculate Heart of Mary. Begins on the First Friday of the month after the 12:10 pm Mass and ends with Benediction at 7:00 pm. The current sign up list is posted the week prior to First Firday Adoration on our Mass & Confession page.

Prayed before daily Mass on Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday at 11:35 am. Thursdays at 8:30 am, and Saturday mornings at 8:20 am.
Meets weekly to pray for the protection of the unborn, and the women and children wounded and lost from abortion.
Men from the parish meet for prayer and fellowship on the third Saturday of the month at 8:00 am in the Lower Hall, beginning with prayer and a discussion on the Sunday readings, followed by breakfast. This is an ideal opportunity to meet other men in the parish and to share ways in which we can grow in our relationship with Christ and each other, and more fully live our Christian faith in the world.

Each year, our parish participates in Thanksgiving and Chirstmas food collections, and Christmas Toy collection for children in need.
